Erosion and Weathering Project
BACKGROUND/IMPORTANT TERMS:
The Earth’s crust is constantly being reshaped by constructive and destructive forces. Over time, weathering due to chemical action (dissolving, oxidation, acid rain, etc.) and mechanical action (root action, sand blasting, frost/ice wedging, etc.) breaks huge slabs of solid rock into small pieces called sediments. The sediments are moved to a new location through the process of erosion. These sediments settle out in a new location through the process of deposition. These deposits can be turned into sedimentary rocks through compaction and cementation. Agents of erosion include currents of air or water and glacial movement.
ACTIVITY:
The purpose of this activity is for you to demonstrate your understanding of weathering and erosion. You will design and create a project that includes the following content information:
You may create a PowerPoint slide show or a Word document. Your project must include:
Submit your project in Edgenuity.

ACTIVITY:
The purpose of this activity is for you to demonstrate your understanding of weathering and erosion. You will design and create a project that includes the following content information:
- Definition of weathering
- Describe the 2 types of weathering and provide at least 2 examples of each along with descriptions.
- 3 examples of landforms that have been changed through weathering and erosion and how it happened.
- Definition of erosion
- Agents (wind, water, ice) that cause erosion and explanation of how they cause erosion.
- Impacts of Erosion & Sedimentation on the Chattahoochee River
- Ways to prevent weathering and erosion.
You may create a PowerPoint slide show or a Word document. Your project must include:
- Your name and date
- Title for the project
- Content information (listed above)
- Pictures of content information (listed above)
- Some creativity!
- Your own, original work! (DO NOT copy/paste text from the Internet)
- Bibliography (resources)
Submit your project in Edgenuity.
